July 2013

Hi, Team Canterwood!

I hope you're all having a fab summer so far! I've been crazy busy with finishing the last Canterwood book, HOME FOR CHRISTMAS, and working on new projects!

I'm so excited to announce two new book deals:
The first is a chapter book series called UNICORN MAGIC. The first two books will hit stores next summer. It's a fun fantasy series about an eight-year old princess and her adventures with her unicorn. I'm having a blast writing it! The series will be published by Aladdin Mix.

The second book deal is for a young adult novel (eeeee!) called WILD HEARTS. This novel is like ROMEO AND JULIET meets THE HORSE WHISPERER. It's my first book for older readers and I'm thrilled! It will be published in 2014 from Bloomsbury.

In addition to these print books, I'm also working on e-novellas (like Wellington Prep) that will only be published online. This fall, I hope to release my first Sasha Silver e-novella! Isn't that exciting?! I'm so glad to tell more stories about Canterwood. The e-novellas will be about 50 pages and up for sale on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and other online bookstores. I'm doing this myself, so there will be no print copies. I hope you guys will be into the Canterwood e-novellas that I'll be writing. I have many, many more stories about Sasha, Lauren, Heather, and others to tell!

Have you heard about my possible tour? Check here for the info! I can't do this without your help, TC, so I hope we can make it happen!

Much love to you all and happy summer!

Xoxo,
Jess

July 2012

Whoa! Can you believe it's summer already?! It's my fave season for a few reasons:

  • *flip-flops
  • *sleep tees
  • *watermelon
  • *Slushies
  • *beach time

and it's not so awesome because of:

  • *yucky 100+ degree weather
  • *sweaty people on the subway
  • *poor hot kitties, dogs, and other outside animals 9
  • *freezing temps inside stores

Are you glad to be out of school? Got any plans for a vacay or a stay-cation? I'm tethered to my laptop and am staying home this summer. I have a lot of work to do (um, like that's a bad thing!) and the days are going by too fast. But when I've got time off in October, I'm taking a girls' weekend out of town with my bestie. We're planning it now and it's giving us both something to look forward to!

In Canterwood related news, August is a BIG month! COMEBACK (Canterwood #15) releases on August 7th. I'm SO, SO excited about this book! I can't wait to see what you all think.

Also, on Saturday, August 25, I'll be in West Chester, Pennsylvania signing books! Come see me! I want to meet more of the awesomeness that is Team Canterwood. :) Get the latest details of that event on my blog and here.

Happy summer, all, and keep up with me on Twitter or my blog!

xoxo,
Jess

January 2012

Happy January! I hope you're all having a great start to the New Year! I'm busy, busy writing COMEBACK and working on new additions for the CCA site. Thank you all for your awesome Tweets, Facebook notes, etc. I love hearing from you! Back to writing…got a deadline to meet!

Xoxo,
Jess

August 2011

Hi, Team Canterwood!

I hope you're all having a great summer so far! : I've been working almost 24/7 on INITIATION (1/2/12) and starting the next Canterwood Crest book, POPULAR (5/1/12). They're so much fun!

I hope you all enjoyed CHOSEN. It was the coolest thing ever to write a super special. I'm taking a trip to Minnesota in September and my publicist set up a signing. If you're nearby, I would love to meet more members of Team Canterwood! I'll be glossed, signing with sparkly pens and, if she's feeling up to it, my bestie Editor K will be there.

Here are the details:

What: Book signing
Where: Rochester, Minnesota Barnes & Noble
When: Sunday, September 18th at 2pm
More info:
Barnes & Noble
Apache Mall

1201 12th Street SW Suite 425
Rochester, MN 55902
507-281-7950
RSVP here! : (You don't have to RSVP to come.)

I'm sooo excited about this signing! A huge thank you to Nancy Monson for allowing me to visit her store and to Nicole Russo and Courtney Sanks for setting it up.

Canterwood aside for a minute, I want to offer my deepest thanks to all, especially those from the Horse Mystique community, who have supported Kate and me though this most difficult of times. Each Tweet, message, banner, comment, etc., that has wished Kate well has lifted her spirits more than you'll ever know. I consider you all friends and you've taken time from your busy schedules to let Kate know that you're thinking of her. This has not only helped Kate, but it has gotten me through some rough periods and allowed me to keep writing the books you love. Thank you. :)

Now back to Canterwood . . . on July 26, The Canterwood Crest Stable of E-books released. So cool! You can download books 1-4 for your e-reader devices from the bookstore of your choice.

I hope you've been keeping up with Lauren's blog. She also Tweets!

Also, you guys have been sending THE coolest CC artwork. I'm posting it all (as I can) in a PhotoBucket album. You'll find amazing Twitter backgrounds, wallpaper and more!

All fall will be spent gearing up for the release of INITIATION, working on prizes and release week contests and…some special surprises that will be posted on my blog in the future.

Hugs to all!
xoxo

May 2011

Happy almost-summer, Team Canterwood! I can't believe it's May already! Even better, the first Canterwood Crest Super Special, CHOSEN, is out. It's always been my dream to have a Super Special and I can't wait to go see it at bookstores.

I hope you're as excited to meet Lauren as I am to make the introduction. Editor K and I put lots of our favorite things, colors, teas, etc., into this book and we're superproud of it.

Speaking of Editor K, I want to thank you all for the amazing support you're writing to me with words of encouragement for Editor K as we move through this scary health-process. Team Canterwood's virtual hugs means so much! I have over 1000 unanswered e-mails in my inbox from you all and I've read every single one. I love them and thank you! The letters are so sweet, too.

What are your summer plans? I'll be busy working on Canterwood books, new Website updates, blogging and vlogging.

When I'm not working, I'm hoping to soak up some sun, watch a ton of TV with my bestie and change my nail polish way too often. :) And, you know, buy some lip-gloss.

There's a very cool new fan-created site (I'm not responsible for any content on the site) that I wanted to share-a Canterwood Crest Wiki. If you're on Facebook and you want to connect with other fans (and me!) you can do so here. And if you're bored this summer (maybe you need something to do if you're stuck babysitting!) come chat with members of the Team Canterwood forum.

xoxo

January 2011

I hope everyone on Team Canterwood had a wonderful holiday! I'm excited about 2011. :)

January is full of Canterwood related things. First, have you seen the gorge cover for CHOSEN—the first Canterwood super special coming out this May? It's sooo pretty! And shiny! And fun!

I know we're all sad to say goodbye to Sasha, but don't worry! She'll still be as busy as ever at Canterwood—riding Charm, studying and grabbing the hottest flavors of gloss.

January is farewell month to our fave lip-gloss obsessed girl Sasha. She ends her reign as narrator in UNFRIENDLY COMPETITION. Someone new and awesome takes the reins for books 13-16. You. Will. Love. Her. Editor K and I already do and we can't wait for you to meet her!

Also, if you're in New York City on January 19th, I have my first signing. (Gulp!) Come see me so I won't be alone, LOL.

Here's the info:
Barnes & Noble
97 Warren Street
New York, New York
7pm-8pm

I'll be reading, hosting a Q&A and doing a signing. I hope to meet more members of Team Canterwood! Check out info from B&N here: http://store-locator.barnesandnoble.com/event/69886

If you're not near the city, I'm still scheduling school/book club visits via Skype. I offer free twenty minute sessions to book clubs who have already read one or more of the Canterwood books. I also have longer presentations for a fee. Have a teacher or librarian contact me about those.

2010 News:

October 2010

Happy fall, Team Canterwood!

The site is fully updated with tons of new content and everything Canterwood-related! Plus, the cover I've been dying to show you-Chosen-is up. It's the first ever Super Special that is coming out in May 2011. I'm so excited!

I'm busy writing Chosen now and thinking up ideas for book #14. I also just started searching for an agent for a young adult project last month so the wait is on. *bites nails*

Also, I'm scheduling school visits via Skype. If I don't live near you, but you'd like me to visit your school via Webcam, have your teacher contact me. I'm already lining up lots of visits. :-)

I have a new Website for older readers. I'm writing young adult novels (not yet published) under my real name, Jessica Ashley. If you want to check out the new site, visit: www.jessashley.com.

Have a happy Halloween!

xoxo,
Jess

January 2010

Hi, everyone!

Happy New Year! It's been C-R-A-Z-Y in Canterwood land as I'm getting *this close* to finishing the latest Canterwood Crest book-CITY SECRETS. It's a super special edition, which is so exciting. :)

Plus, the four new covers for books 9-12 have been revealed along with the titles. I love, love them! Yay, new covers!

If you want to chat about Canterwood, be sure to check out a really cool fan created forum. Talk away and let everyone know if you're on Team Jacob or Team Eric. (PS-CanterwoodGirl created fun new graphics for Jacob and Eric. Be sure to check them out!)

I'm already looking ahead to April when HOME SWEET DRAMA releases. I hope you're as excited about it as I am.

Go Team Canterwood!

xoxo, Jess

Hi, reader girlies!

Are you as excited as I am about the August 11th release of Triple Fault?! I can barely stand it! I'm ready for it to come out and I want to hear from all of you about what you thought after you finished it.

I put a snail mail address up on my author page, so check that out.

Keep up with me via my blog. There will be lots of giveaways and tons of new content.

If you haven't checked them out, there are a couple of Canterwood Crest forums. I'm registered on both and check in whenever I can. The first forum is here and the second, more for RP, is here. Just note that I don't moderate the forums and I didn't start them, so if you have questions about registration, etc, contact the board owner.

Finally, if you want to sign up for the Canterwood Crest Newsletter, send me an e-mail at jess_burkhart [at] hotmail [dot] com with the subject: Subscribe to Canterwood Crest Newsletter. I'll add you to the list for once-a-month e-mails.

And, the biggest news of all, Canterwood has been extended to 12 books! Yaaaay! More of Sasha, Charm and their friends. I'm so thrilled and it wouldn't have happened without my awesome, amazing readers. Team Canterwood!

While all of that was going on, I moved to New York City. It's beyond amazing and I love it here. If you live in the city or a nearby state and want me to come to your school, pass my Website address to a teacher or librarian. I'd love to come visit your school!
